Paediatric Osteopathic Evaluation of the Newborn to Pre-School Aged Child
This is the first of a series of paediatric courses that will build on history taking, examination, assessment, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of the paediatric population who present to us in osteopathic practice.

Course Description
This 2-day program is designed to provide osteopaths interested in treating children with an approach to assessing the well child and evaluating a child’s suitability for osteopathic care.
The course aims to provide the osteopathic practitioner with the ability to Identify normal development to enable recognition of abnormal presentations for each age group from birth to 4 years of age.
Age-appropriate development and common clinical presentations will be discussed; with screening protocols across all systems (neuromusculoskeletal, respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular, skin, ear nose and throat) along with observational, evaluation of the social domains of speech and cognition to help to assess a child’s developmental progress.
Lecture presentations will be accompanied by handouts. Clinical examination of babies and children will be demonstrated to help with management in practice, assessment of a child’s health and evaluation of anatomical and physiological development. Attention will be given to Red and Yellow Flags and recognition of the need for referral will be highlighted.
