Our offer: A full-time, permanent, osteopathic employee or contractor position at our well established, multidisciplinary clinic in Hamilton starting as soon as possible. We offer a good work-life balance of four working days per week with no weekend work or late nights.
Our multidisciplinary team of osteopaths and acupuncturists work together for the benefit of our patients. We enjoy fantastic professional referral networks within the city and osteopaths can refer directly for X-rays, Ultrasound scans and to specialists for efficient diagnosis and patient care.
If you’re applying from overseas, we can support your application as an accredited employer and help you settle into life in NZ, however we are prioritising New Zealand and Australian applicants. As an employee we will pay for your insurance. The minimum base annual salary is $55,843.84 – $62,824.32 (paid fortnightly) based on a 32-36 hour work week. In addition, bonuses (paid monthly) top up the base salary to the total equivalent of 60% of patient/ ACC invoices paid. Estimated total earnings would be from $72,200 - $84,200 based on seeing 30-35 patients a week. We offer a minimum of 32 hours of work per week, at a rate of $33.56 per hour.
About the practice: Our full-time reception staff handle bookings, invoicing and general housekeeping so you can focus on treating your patients. We use Gensolve a cloud-based, practice management software that stores patient data securely, has interactive body charts, scores and goals plus flags and alerts, to maintain optimum standards of patient care.
All treatment rooms have an air conditioner and are equipped with an electric plinth, desk, chairs etc. Our clinic is a charming, native wood, 1920’s style villa, easily accessible by public transport, located at 78 Maeroa Road, Maeroa, Hamilton, Waikato.
We are a short journey from the CBD of Hamilton city, a thriving metropolitan hub on the banks of the Waikato River with peaceful river walks and cycleways, a wide range of sports, hobbies and activities, complete with top bars and restaurants.
The city has great transport links to Auckland, Tauranga, Rotorua and the Coromandel, providing a multitude of activities, walks and beaches to enjoy and only a 45-minute drive from the surf beaches of Raglan.
Our ideal candidate: You are a confident, autonomous osteopath with experience and a wide range of skills suited treating patients of all ages and presentations with a special interest in paediatrics and pregnancy.
You present yourself in a neat, clean and professional manner. Time management skills allow you to keep to appointment times. You are competent at using computers, writing letters, recording clinical notes and can learn new software.
You have excellent communication skills and a passion for helping people, allowing you to identify patients’ health goals and be constantly working towards them. You are constantly developing your cultural, clinical and healthcare knowledge.
Qualifications and registration: You must hold a qualification in Osteopathy recognised by the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand (OCNZ) or that passes the OCNZ qualifications assessment process. To legally work as an Osteopath, you must be registered with the OCNZ and hold a current practising certificate. We will require you to be registered with the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) as a health professional (category- Osteopath) to provide osteopathic treatment to patients who have sustained an injury.
Key tasks: Working 40 min follow up appts and 60 min appts for new patients. Will work co-operatively with support staff and other employees at the clinic. Discussing with patients, their presenting complaint and general health. Examining patients, performing osteopathic, orthopaedic, neurological, and functional tests to inform a diagnosis. Planning and discussing effective management plans for patients' dysfunction, constantly reviewing and evaluating these. Reducing patients’ symptoms with a goal to improve overall health and quality of life through treatment and exercise prescription. Referring patients when appropriate to other health professionals or for imaging. Recording detailed clinical notes following the OCNZ Guidelines for Clinical Record Keeping.
Key responsibilities: Abide by policy, procedures, guidelines and performance standards of the clinic. Deliver professional and competent Osteopathic services in compliance with your scope of practice and the Code of Conduct and Capabilities for Osteopathic Practice set by the OCNZ. Seeking informed consent for treatment in all instances and maintaining confidentiality of both patient and clinic information. Develop cultural competency and a working understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in relation to healthcare. Use reflective practice to identify relevant and appropriate continuing professional development activities.
